I wanted a wall mounted dust collector that can be positioned anywhere along the lathe. I didn't like the commercial products so decided to design and build what I wanted. It took some searching to find the solution, but what finally worked was pipe used in fencing. They make this to sleeve inside each other, and some of the fence fittings were easily adapted to gain the flexibility I wanted. A few drill holes and taps with a few knobs and it was done. I put a piece of screen over the inlet to prevent things like box lids getting sucked in. I still would like to find a lighter hose to make positioning a little easier.
